Next Please!
The Brokeback anticipation built over many long, hard months. So much has been said/written about the movie, there seems little point in me adding my 2 cents worth with a review. I'll leave it at this: It's an astounding piece of art. Beautiful, understated, funny and heartwrending are key words. Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Williams deliver the performances of their young careers. All three should receive Oscar noms along with director Ang Lee and Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana for the script. If it doesn't get nominated for best picture, there's a serious problem. I've never cried so much at a movie.
Now, on to my next obsession. Namely, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and his upcoming film Match Point. In addition to the eye-candy (Matthew Goode is also quite yummy) the film is getting lotso buzz (4 Golden Globe noms) for some smokin' love scenes between JRM and Scarlett Johansson, who evidently gives a stunning (Golden Globe worthy) performance as the tempting vixen, and the fact that Woody Allen has apparently remembered how to make a movie. It's about time.

Oh, and I for got to mention that a new Oscar category is currently being created. Not sure what they're calling it yet, but the first nominee is Anne Hathaway's hair in Brokeback Mtn.
Breakfast came out this weekend also... it is playing at AMC.
