Sordid TV

LOGO announced it's new season lineup yesterday, with four new shows, including Sordid Lives - The Series. Details are scarce, but Del Shores (Queer as Folk), the writer who penned both the stage and film versions of the story, is on board. Shores stated early on he was trying to get as many original cast members on board as possible - Leslie Jordan (Will & Grace) is confirmed to reprise his role as Brother Boy. The series is a prequel to the movie, beginning the day that Tammye Wynette dies.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, stop whatever you're doing right now and go rent the movie. It's low budget, but a masterpiece nonetheless. It's all about a white trash Southern Baptist family from east Texas as they gather for the funeral of the family matriarch, who died after she tripped over her lover's wooden legs in a seedy motel room. Starring Olivia Newton-John, Delta Burke, Beau Bridges, Leslie Jordan and Bonnie Bedelia among others. Below are the closing credits lip synch from the movie and a trailer (which doesn't do the film justice at all).

In related Del Shores news. A film version of his play Southern Baptist Sissies is in pre-production. Leslie Jordan will reprise the role of Peanut Leroy. Learn all about the world of Del Shores at www.seasonofshores.com

Update: Something is wrong with the youtube trailer. Here's another.

That's the one. To this day, it's still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
