It must have been recently, because they certainly wouldn't make any special exceptions for a member of Congress... Karissa, I think the charges against him are outlined in the article. I'd say he's been caught red handed; but, of course, it's never that simple.

Today, DeLay's attorney asked for a new judge - they want to get the case out of "liberal" Austin - because the judge assigned to the case had contributed to MoveOn.org, which DeLay's defense contended is selling t-shirts with DeLay's mugshot on them. The contribution was made over a year ago, MoveOn doesn't sell such shirts and as the DA points out, this would be like telling a judge who donated to Crimestoppers that he couldn't take a burglary case.
